Instead of buying a generator, artists buy golf cart batteries. Instead of filling a generator with gas, artists bring their batteries to The Solar Library to charge. This way even small art projects can deploy fume free & noise free art without having to incur the extra costs & engineering a solar charging system or having to compromise their aesthetics by having a panel farm right next to their piece. When an art project knows they are approved to bring art to Black Rock City they apply for a Solar LIbrary card.

On the playa artists swap batteries each day in late afternoon bringing in discharged batteries and swapping for charged batteries.
